The Corona crisis has turned the world upside down. At DALBO, we are working as hard as we can to maintain the delivery of quality products and keep our high level of service.
So far, we have succeeded in keeping the business going almost as usual. We still experience a nice level of activity, there is still a demand for our machines, and we can still keep up production and get the most necessary goods from suppliers and sub-suppliers.
We have though over the last couple of weeks seen a slowdown and restraint in the market. DALBO will also be hit by the storm. We just don't know yet how hard it will hit us and for how long it will last.
Trying in any way we can to stay ready to serve our customers at any time, we have prepared ourselves for the storm internally as much as possible. Amongst other initiatives, this has led to a change of our captain. Carsten Abel has resigned and our CFO, Carsten Jensen, has been appointed as new Managing Director.
Carsten Jensen is by nature not well known in our markets and amongst our customers, but he has a strong and safe hand on the steering wheel, and he is respected and well-liked amongst the employees. We feel confident that he, supported by our experienced sales people in all markets, can ensure not only that we can continue to live up to our customers' expectations, but also that DALBO gets through the challenges in the strongest possible way.
We will continue to work intensively to keep DALBO’s leading position within rolls, and with a continuous focus on innovation we will remain obliged to providing machines for the most efficient and environmentally friendly tillage possible. With the current initiatives, we are doing our best to create the best possible foundation for it.

DALBO is celebrating the first 10 years in the UK
2020 is a celebration of DALBO UK’s 10th anniversary in the UK. Officially DALBO started on 1st of May 2010, and below UK Sales Manager Steve Atkin, who is responsible for all DALBO activities in the UK, looks back on the 10 years that have passed.
“For me it’s remarkable to see how the company has grown from our very humble position back then.
For many years DALBO had worked with importers but never did much more than ‘scratch the surface’.
In 2009 it was decided to stop with the current importer and to establish an independent company reporting directly to the Danish parent company. The idea behind this bold venture was to have a company 100% focussed on the DALBO product line and to take DALBO ‘closer’ to the market. This meant that the company could react quicker to changing market conditions and to have a more direct line to dealers and end users.
Now firmly established as a front runner in the hydraulic folding rolls and seedbed cultivation sector, in an ultra-competitive market, I’m very proud to say that in my opinion this venture has been a success.
DALBO UK has a small but dedicated team offering exceptional support in service, parts and sales. This is supported by an excellent and committed network of loyal dealers situated across the UK and it’s these 2 points that are the main ingredients to this success story.
In the beginning the ‘small’ UK team was even smaller as it was only Karl and myself. In the early years we attended all major UK shows which was very important because it helped us reach a much wider audience. As our dealer network expanded across the UK, and they had product on display to view throughout the year, our sales and market share increased. I attended so many dealer events, and these helped us to establish ourselves across the country and to support the dealers that had supported us. This is still very important to this day.
The UK team has expanded with Ellis, Lewis and more recently Thomas joining. This has created a very strong, reliable, loyal, professional, dedicated and committed team that supports our dealers and army of customers.
It’s with great pride that I am leading this team into an exciting, although challenging, period that I hope will see our position strengthen in the UK market. And to sum it up, the 3 things that I’m most proud of are:
1. My UK team. As I’ve just mentioned they’re a very strong, loyal, reliable, professional, dedicated and committed group.
2. Our strong group of highly professional dealers.
3. Our customers. Especially those that have come back to us to buy a 2nd, 3rd, 4th or as in one case, 8th machine. That is a special feeling.
However, you don’t get the 3rd point if the first 2 points aren’t in place.”
In an anniversary year like this, you might expect a lot of fuss and events. When asked, Steve is very focused:
“At DALBO UK we don’t really want to make this a celebration about ‘us’ and instead would prefer to mark the occasion by giving something back. To this end we will run a sales campaign where 20 of our customers can win a very nice 3-day trip to Denmark in January 2021. Included will be a visit to the Agromek Show, and the DALBO factory along with a few other interesting locations!
Commemorative stickers will be on all machines delivered in 2020, and we’ll launch an exciting special
BLACK EDITION version of the very successful 12.3 m POWERROLL. The POWERROLL BLACK EDITION is a TRUE limited edition factory production run, so when they’ve gone, they are gone!
So, all in all we hope for another successful year for our dealers, customers and of course for DALBO UK.”

Dal-Bo Depth Control - electronic depth scale
Dal-Bo A / S has developed an electronic depth scale which, via an ultrasonic sensor on the harrow connected to a clear LCD display in the tractor's cab, is able to provide the tractor driver with information about the aggressiveness and working depth of the tines at a Dal-Bo harrow.
The news is launched under the name Dal-Bo Depth Control.
The electronic depth scale in the cabin is intended as a substitute for or a supplement to the mechanical depth scale on the harrow. The mechanical depth scale can sometimes be difficult and strenuous to read under the dusty conditions typically present during the field work. It is even more difficult or impossible to see the conventional type of mechanical scale on the harrow in the half or full dark at the end of the long working days in the season of soil preparation.
With a clear LCD display in the cabin, the problem is solved.
Thanks to the information of the LCD display, the tractor operator can quickly adjust the aggressiveness and working depth of the harrow tines after every turn on the driver and thereby achieve uniform stump handling or seedbed preparation. Furthermore, the driver's ergonomics are significantly improved by the fact that it is no longer necessary for the driver to sit with the body turned around and look backwards to monitor the tines and achieve the desired harvester depth.

- Clear overview of the work of the harrow tines regardless of lighting and dust conditions

- Greater uniformity in soil cultivation
- Reduced diesel consumption by uniform (not too deep) harrowing
The system will be launched at Agromek 2018 and will be ready for delivery for the spring season 2019.
DAL-BO A/S is specialized in developing and manufacturing rollers and harrows for the agricultural use all over the world. Inside the product range farmers find a wide program for use at private farms or large industrial holdings. Approximately 15 per cent of the implements are sold in Denmark and 85 per cent is exported to more than 40 countries all over the world.

With the necessity to optimize the quality and efficiency of the time availably to farmers, the development of rolls, in recent years, has seen a trend towards larger units. For this reason Dal-Bo today manufactures rolls with a working width up to 18.3m.
In 2013 Dal-Bo started developing and testing a new series of Cambridge roll rings, resulting in the new innovative design we introduce to you as SNOWFLAKE. The SNOWFLAKE roll ring comes in 4 different sizes ø50, ø55, ø60 and ø65 cm. The selection of ring size allows the farmer to choose a ring that will best suit their soil and plant conditions.
Dal-Bo’s new SNOWFLAKE roll rings have gone through a series of tests both practical in the field, and also in an especially designed test unit. The new patented design has improved the ring, making it up to six times stronger than existing Cambridge rings. Durability has also been improved remarkably. The major factor of SNOWFLAKE is the new design of the spokes in the ring. The design is based on the crystal of a snow flake, hence the name SNOWFLAKE. The design of SNOWFLAKE is unique and is both product and design protected in Europe.
In addition to that we have started a series of applications for patents all over the world to strengthen the present and future position of Dal-Bo being the leading manufacturer of rolls.
We are proud that the development of SNOWFLAKE has already resulted in the first recognition from an external side; the Committee of Agromek has rated the SNOWFLAKE roll ring with 3 stars as a “New in Europe” award winner.
